Lucerne

Municipality of Horw

The marathon and half-marathon runners benefit in particular from the Horw peninsula on Lake Lucerne. A large part of the route runs alongside the lake. The runners also get to enjoy an impressive pre-alpine landscape.

Helpers from numerous Horw clubs are on hand to spruce up Horw. The flags are raised and the cantonal road becomes a running track. Live music plays in the pedestrian zone and the festival pubs smell of bratwurst and risotto. The notorious La Ola wave of enthusiastic spectators in Horw literally carries the runners towards the city of Lucerne.

The Maratholinos, the 4 to 6-year-old junior runners, get to enjoy an atmosphere they have never experienced before. They run an unforgettable 195 metres in the centre of Horw. Thanks to our presenting partner Coop, participation in the Maratholino is free for all kids.

Athletes in the 10 KM category can easily reach Horw from all over Switzerland by public transport and will find the necessary infrastructure in the large Horw hall before running a lap through the village and then turning onto the marathon and half-marathon course.
