General Terms and Conditions

1. by registering for an event of the SwissCityMarathon - Lucerne Association (organiser), the participant agrees to these General Terms and Conditions (GTC) and the following appendices without exception. These also apply to the registration of other or additional persons (third parties).

The organiser assumes that these third parties have authorised the registering person to register. If underage runners are registered by third parties, the organiser assumes that the legal representatives have given their consent.

2 Registration takes place exclusively online. Registrations without receipt of payment of the participation fee within 10 days will not be accepted.

3. when registering, there is an optional option to take out cancellation cover. The entry fee paid can be protected in the event of accident, illness or other reasons in accordance with the cancellation conditions.

4 The organiser reserves the right to disqualify participants at any time and without refunding the entry fee if they have either provided false personal data when registering, do not comply with the rules and measures specified by the authorities and/or the organiser, or are suspected of taking unauthorised substances (such as doping).

5 The organiser may set participant limits. If a limit is reached, registrations received after this time can no longer be considered. Registrations will be registered after receipt of payment. In the event of any reduction in the maximum number of participants due to official requirements, registrations will be considered after receipt of payment.

6. the organiser may restrict access to and participation in the event, for example due to official requirements. If a runner does not fulfil the entry requirements, there is no entitlement to a refund of the entry fee.

7. any changes to the registration can only be made online. Registrations are personal and non-transferable. The organiser may offer an official transfer option for a fee if the event is sold out. A change of competition is possible as long as starting places are available. Higher entry fees and options will be charged. Refunds or crediting of overpaid entry fees are excluded. In the event of re-registration for another competition, the services of the corresponding competition automatically apply. There is no entitlement to a refund in the event of a reduction in services.

8. in the event of cancellation before the communicated deadlines according to the announcement, an online voucher to the value of the entry fee paid, less a processing fee, valid until at least one day before the same event in the following year, will be issued.

9. for registrations made twice in error, an online voucher to the value of the entry fee paid, minus a processing fee, valid until one day before the same event in the following year at the latest, will be issued.

10. vouchers can only be redeemed online, are not cumulative and are only valid as long as starting places are available. Any credit balances or remaining amounts will not be credited or refunded. Vouchers or starting places from competitions or promotions are only valid for the corresponding event and cannot be transferred to a subsequent year. In addition, these are personal and cannot be transferred to other persons.

11. in the event of cancellation after the communicated deadline according to the announcement, any claim for reimbursement of the entry fee shall lapse.

12. in the event of a cancellation of the start, there is no entitlement to a refund of the entry fee. If a runner is unable to participate due to symptoms, illness or accident (with or without a medical certificate), there is no entitlement to a refund of the entry fee.

13. the use of personal data is regulated in the applicable data protection declaration . The runners undertake to provide the organiser with the personal data of third parties only if they, or their legal representatives, are aware of the applicable data protection declaration and are authorised to do so in accordance with applicable data protection law. The organiser may ask the runners at any time to prove the existence of these conditions - in particular the consent of the third parties - within a reasonable period of time and may otherwise withdraw from all contracts without further notice.

14. photos and film recordings made in connection with our running event may be used on TV, the Internet, in advertising material, magazines and books without any claim to remuneration.

15. events are organised in accordance with the competition regulations of the respective event.

16. the participant undertakes to comply with the general health- and safety regulations unconditionally and to comply with the general Code of Conduct to follow the general code of behaviour.

17. the instructions of the event staff must be strictly followed.

18. runners are responsible for ensuring that they arrive at the start in good physical condition and in good health. The organiser accepts no responsibility in the event of accident or illness and rejects any liability claims.

19. event doctors and medical staff may withdraw runners from the race at any time if they are found to have health problems. Persons over 35 years of age and runners with a history of heart, circulatory or lung disease or other risk groups are recommended to undergo regular medical examinations.

20 The organiser is entitled to cancel, adjust or postpone the running event for good cause. Good cause is deemed to exist in particular if it becomes impossible to hold the running event at the originally scheduled time due to an external, unforeseeable and unavoidable force majeure event.
If the event is cancelled or the number of participants is subsequently restricted by official requirements up to 2 days before the start of the event, participants who are unable to start have the following options:

  • Donate their entry fee to the organiser
  • Free transfer to the same event in the following year
  • Refund of the entry fee minus a processing fee


21 The organiser and its partners assume no liability for runners' risks of any kind, especially of a health nature. Runners are responsible for ensuring that they arrive at the start in good physical condition and in good health. Insurance is the responsibility of the participants.

22. assistance at the organiser's posts by medical personnel is included in the entry fee. Any necessary medical treatment on the course, transport to a clinic and any treatment in the clinic is not included in the entry fee.

23 The organiser declines all liability towards spectators and third parties.

24 The organiser accepts no liability for items stored free of charge

25. the current Swiss Olympic doping statute applies to all events. Doping tests may be carried out. By participating, runners submit to the anti-doping rules of Swiss Olympic and recognise the exclusive jurisdiction of Swiss Sport Integrity and the Tribunal Arbitral du Sport (TAS) in Lausanne to the exclusion of the ordinary courts (see https://www.sportintegrity.ch/).

27. place of jurisdiction is Lucerne

28. we reserve the right to make changes
