- Will I get my paid registration fee back?
In the e-mail we sent you, you can choose from the following four options:
- Free Start 2021
Get your name added to the starting list for the SwissCityMarathon - Lucerne from 31.10.2021 for free and for the same distance. - Donation
You donate your registration fee for the event. Thus you waive the refund and support the organisation of the SwissCityMarathon - Lucerne. Thank you very much for your solidarity and support! - Voucher
You will receive an online voucher for the SwissCityMarathon - Lucerne in the value of your paid registration fee minus CHF 10.00 processing fee. This voucher is valid for 3 years until one day before the SwissCityMarathon - Lucerne 2023. - Refund
We will pay back your registration fee in the value of your paid registration fee minus CHF 20.00 for our expenses and bank charges.
- Free Start 2021
- Is my starting place transfered to 2021?
Yes, this is an option you can choose in your e-mail link.
- Do I have to become active myself?
Yes, until August 31st, 2020 you have to choose the appropriate option via the link in the e-mail you received.
- How is the transfer to the 2021 start list done?
By selecting the "Free start 2021" option in your email, you will automatically be transferred to the 2021 starting list. We will inform you again by e-mail as soon as the 2021 start list is online.
- I have not received an e-mail, what can be the reason?
- The e-mail has landed in the SPAM folder. Check the SPAM folder.
- The e-mail address you entered during registration was wrong and therefore the e-mail could not be delivered. Send us an e-mail with your details to info@swisscitymarathon.ch.
- You were not yet registered for the SwissCityMarathon – Lucerne 2020. You do not have to do anything.
- I cannot participate in the event next year, what should I do?
With the option "Voucher" the received voucher code can be redeemed until one day before the event in 2023.
- Does the cancellation insurance cover my lost registration fee?
This case of cancellation of the event is not covered by the insurance you bought during the registration process according to the general insurance conditions of the cancellation costs insurance / ERV.
- What about my booked hotel and accommodation costs?
Please contact the hotel directly and cancel your booking.
- Is there an alternative event in Lucerne in October 2020 that I can attend?
An alternative running series is planned for autumn 2020. We will keep you up to date on our website and via social media.

- Why do I not have to enter my expected running time when registering?
There is no need to enter your expected running time when registering.
Choose your starting block on race day with the corresponding running time and stand in the marked blocks independently.
In the marathon and half marathon you have Pacemakers at your disposal who stand in the marked blocks.

Arrival and Travel
- How do I get there?
Arrival at the SwissCityMarathon by public transport is highly recommended! The organiser does not offer parking space for private vehicles.
The SBB and the Verkehrsbetriebe Luzern (vbl) as partner of the SwissCityMarathon bring participants and visitors safely and comfortably to the start and finish areas and to the running course.

- What is the SwissRunners-Ticket?
The SwissRunners-Ticket is your ticket for free travel by public transport from the swiss boarder to Lucerne.

- How do I benefit from the SwissRunners-Ticket?
All participants benefit from free public transport (2nd class) from their place of residence within switzerland, the airport or the swiss border to the venue and back via the GA area routes.
Approximately 10 days before the event, registered runners will receive the official starting card with two personal promocodes by e-mail. On the SBB website you can buy one ticket for arriving and one for returning. www.sbb.ch/swissrunners

Starting documents and race number
- How do I get my race number?
The race number will NOT be sent, but must be collected on Friday or Saturday at the Expo (@ Schweizerhof Luzern) or on Sunday before the race at the race number distribution in the Swiss Museum of Transport or for the 10KM race in Horw.
Race numbers do NOT have to be collected personally. The race number will be given to you at the race number distribution upon presentation of the registration/payment confirmation or the start card, which will be sent to you by e-mail mid-October.
- When do I get the starting documents?
The starting document will be sent to you by e-mail mid-October.
You will need the starting document to pick up your race number. The documents can be conveniently presented on your smartphone or tablet there's no need to print it out.
The start card also contains the codes for buying the Swiss Runners Ticket.
Nutrition and course map
- Are there food stations along the course?
There will be enough food and water stations along the course of the SwissCityMarathon – Lucerne for all runners. Due to organizational reasons it is not possible to have self-catering deposits at the nutrition stations. The concept is based on the latest scientific findings and is coordinated with our medical and nutrition partner.
- What does the course look like?
Finish area
- When is the finish closing time?
Finish closing time is at 12.15 pm for half marathon runners
Finish closing time is at 3.00 pm for marathon, DuoMarathon and 10K runners.
Runners who do not cross the finish line within the time limit will not be classified. Marathon runners who pass the turning point after 12am have to cross the finish line and end the race at halfmarathon distance. They will be listet at the end of the halfmarathon ranking with their finished time. The end of the official competition is determined by the follow-up vehicle, which is passing the kilometers on time, so that it arrives at the finish within the set time limit. Overtaken runners have to end the race and are no longer part of the official competition.
- Is there a victory ceremony?
Half marathon: 11:20 am (finish arena Swiss Museum of Transport)
Marathon: 12.30 pm (finish arena Swiss Museum of Transport)
10K: 2:15 pm Uhr (finish arena Swiss Museum of Transport)
Only overall winners will be awarded on stage.
All other prizes will be sent by post after the event.Category winners receive a free starting place for the next year, 2nd placed a 50% voucher and 3rd placed a 30% voucher.
The award ceremonies will take place in the finish area, please note the speaker announcements.
Changing roooms/baggage transport/ Lost & Found
- Is there a baggage claim?
Marathon/DuoMarathon/Half Marathon
For the marathon, DuoMarathon and half marathon participants there are changing rooms and valuables depots in the Würzenbachschulhaus (men) and in the Sportcenter Smash (women).

10KM participants can drop off their luggage at the start in Horw. The bags will then be transported to the changingrooms in the finish area.More about luggage transport here.
- Is there a lost and found office?
During the event, the lost and found office will be located at the official information stands of the SwissCityMarathon: Bahnhofplatz Lucerne; Horw Gemeindehausplatz; finish area Swiss Museeum of Transport.
After the event, the objects found will be at the SwissCityMarathon office, Würzenbachstrasse 13, 6006 Lucerne.

- Where does the "Pasta- and Rösti fun" happen?
The "Pasta and Rösti fun" takes place at the Expo in the Schweizerhof Lucerne. Participants of the SwissCityMarathon - Lucerne will receive a portion of pasta or roastli with their vouchers free of charge.
