The Kids Races offer our youngest participants the chance to take their first steps into the wonderful world of running – or simply to run along for fun and enjoy an unforgettable experience. Thanks to the generous support of our presenting partner, Coop, everyone can take part for free.

All children aged between 4 and 6 can take part in the Maratholino. For children aged between 7 and 12, there’s a starting line at the Mini Marathon in Niederstadt.
In the Maratholino , children wearing race number 1 on their chests run without any time pressure, because here everyone is a winner and having fun is the main focus. There is no timekeeping; the children’s names are published in alphabetical order. Every child receives a special gift and a commemorative medal.
In the Mini Marathon , the young runners set off on a 2.195KM course in Niederstad, Alpnach.
In total, the SwissCityMarathon – Lucerne attracts more than 13,000 participants and over 50,000 supporters. The event always takes place on the last Sunday in October.
Fully booked
The Maratholino in Lucerne is fully booked. There are still places available for the Maratholino in Horw and Hergiswil, and for the Alpnach Mini Marathon.

The start and finish are on Haldenstrasse, right in front of the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne.
Recommendation for parents
The start and finish are at the same location. This means you can drop the children off at the start without any hassle and collect them straight away.

Option 1 (Friday / Saturday):
- Collect your Maratholino race number at the Runner Expo at the Hotel Schweizerhof Luzern on presentation of your starter guide .
Option 2 (Sunday):
- Lucerne: outside the Swiss Museum of Transport at the JaMaDu Desk (9.15 am to 10.30 am)
Late registrations
- Places are limited.
- Late registration is only possible if the relevant Maratholino (Lucerne, Horw or Hergiswil) is not yet fully booked!
- Late registration is possible at all the locations mentioned above, subject to the above condition.
- However, we strongly recommend registering online in advance.

- Please present it in digital form .

Route map
The Maratholino starts in the centre of Horw (Ringstrasse 1, 6048 Horw) and a starting arch marks the exact starting point. The finish is at the festival restaurant in the centre of Horw (Kantonsstrasse 88, 6048 Horw).
Recommendation for parents
The start and finish are 195 metres apart. In order to bring children safely to the start and pick them up again at the finish, it is advantageous to come in pairs. One person at the start and one at the finish will help to avoid unnecessary stress.
