The medals of the last 16 years

Last changed on

A running event is not only a test of endurance, but also a journey filled with memories and successes. Since the first SwissCityMarathon - Lucerne (then still called the "Lucerne Marathon"), we have endeavoured to crown this journey with a special honour - our medal

16 medal years have already passed since the first event in autumn 2007, and since then we have set ourselves the challenge of creating a new medal model every year that reflects the beauty and character of the city of Lucerne. From the early years in the blue and white look to the current design with images of Lucerne's landmarks, our medal has constantly evolved.

Initially, when the SwissCityMarathon - Lucerne was still called the Lucerne Marathon, Lucerne's local mountain, Mount Pilatus, adorned the medal. Since 2015, the medal has been adorned with various landmarks and important buildings in the city of Lucerne. From the venerable Chapel Bridge to the futuristic KKL Lucerne Culture and Convention Centre, each motif has been carefully selected to reflect the history and spirit of our city and give runners a lasting memory of their experience in Lucerne. Runners will encounter all of these motifs on our routes from start to finish.

After eight different city landmarks, the exciting question remains: Which iconic landmark will adorn our medal this year? Can you guess which symbolic building along the route has never been featured on a medal before? We can't wait to present the 2024 design! Stay tuned.
