The effort is small, the effect all the greater. Simone Lanz used her fan poster to motivate runners at the SwissCityMarathon - Lucerne 2021 and inspire them on social media. The amateur runner was inspired abroad.
These are moments she will never forget. Simone Lanz took part in the legendary New York Marathon twice. "There were a million people on the roadside who made everyone on the course feel like a winner," recalls the 47-year-old from Lucerne. "The motivation and excitement of the spectators made me want to support the runners in Lucerne too."
Surprised by the reactions
Simone Lanz designed a fan poster for the 2021 SwissCityMarathon with the simplest of means and in a short space of time. The message on it is: Pain fades, pride remains. "I got the idea for the message from runs in New York and Budapest." Her poster was very popular and put a smile on the faces of the runners. Pictures of Simone Lanz with her fan poster also found their way onto social media. "I was happy about the many positive reactions, but I hadn't expected it," says Lanz. "I'm not on social media, so I was quite surprised when my partner, niece, friends and work colleagues approached me about it."
Simone Lanz would be delighted if more fan posters could be seen at the SwissCityMarathon - Lucerne. "I would be especially happy for the runners if there were more posters. Because what they achieve is simply fantastic. Regardless of the distance."
You too can make a fan poster
The effort is small, but the effect is all the greater. Like Simone, make a fan poster and motivate the participants in the SwissCityMarathon - Lucerne. All you need is a piece of cardboard, scissors, a brush, paint and a few powerful words. Or give the runners extra energy with a handshake. Then your poster will say: "High five here for energy." Or in English: "Energy high five here!". You can design fan posters at the Marathon Expo and take them with you for the run on Sunday. The expo is open on Friday from 16:00 - 20:00 and on Saturday from 10:00 - 17:00.
