The SwissCityMarathon - Lucerne 2025 medal is more than just a souvenir. It symbolically connects the three central Swiss cantons of Lucerne, Obwalden and Nidwalden.
Every year, our medals tell a story. In 2025, it shows Lucerne's local mountain, Mount Pilatus - not only as a scenic landmark of our region, but also as a symbol for the new route extension towards Alpnach. This route runs through the cantons of Lucerne, Obwalden and Nidwalden - and stands for the cross-cantonal cooperation that will be realised with the extension of the marathon distance from 2025.
We are also setting an example in terms of sustainability
For marathon participants, the medal is included in the entry fee. It is not included in the entry fee for half marathon, CityRun and CharityRun runners and can be ordered for CHF 5. But why actually? We want to prevent unnecessary resources from being used to produce medals that end up in the rubbish bin. By actively ordering during the registration process, only the people who really want the medal will choose it. This measure saves us half a tonne of scrap metal every year!
