Swiss Athletics is the professional association for athletics in Switzerland. Its headquarters are located in the Haus des Sports in Ittigen b. Bern. Swiss Athletics promotes top-class sport and young talent and supports the development of the general public.
Swiss Runners
The Swiss Runners, is an association of the most important running competitions in Switzerland. All members take part with their event in the Swiss Runners Ticket, i.e. free travel of runners within Switzerland to the competitions.

German Road Races (GRR)
German Road Races (GRR) is an interest group of large running events. Its members are many organisers of marathon and road races held in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Turkey and the Czech Republic.

The AIMS Association of International Marathon and Distance Races, to which the SwissCityMarathon - Lucerne belongs, is the international association of all marathon and long-distance races worldwide.

AIMS Green Award 2018
SwissCityMarathon - Lucerne wins the Sustainability Award!
The Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) has rewarded the SwissCityMarathon - Lucerne with the AIMS Green Award 2018.
The award, which recognizes outstanding achievements in sustainability, was presented at the sixth annual AIMS "Best Marathon Runner" (BMR) Awards Gala, which took place in November 2018 in the birthplace of the marathon in Athens, Greece.
The International Association of Marathon Runs AIMS assesses the candidates for the Green Award against various criteria such as the promotion of environmentally friendly practices, the involvement of volunteers in project success or the ability to educate young generations about the benefits of sport and environmental protection.
The aim of the SwissCityMarathon - Lucerne is to organise a sustainable event that can continue in the future. This means that the three dimensions of society, economy and environment in which the SwissCityMarathon takes place are taken into account.

5-star certificate as a quality road race
The European Athletics Federation honors the SwissCityMarathon - Lucerne with the 5-star certificate as a quality road race.
As part of the "Running 4 all" brand, the European Federation applies official safety and quality standards for running events, which can be used to assess and compare the quality of running events for participants and organisers. In this evaluation, the SwissCityMarathon receives the highest award of 5 out of 5 stars, thus guaranteeing the runners a comprehensive level of safety and a high quality service.

And that's how it works:
The qualification time for the ABBOTTWMM WANDA AGE GROUP WORLD RANKING for the SERIES XIII runs from 1 January 2021 - 31 December 2021 (AbbottWMM Series XIII).Participants will have one year to run two qualifying times to win a place at the 2022 AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Championships.
Participants in an AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Ranking will receive points by age, time and gender for the following age groups for men and women: 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+.
The distribution of the selected marathon events across the world that are part of the AbbottWMM Wanda Agre Group World Rankings creates for runners, a global series that gives them the opportunity to be part of a new era of age group marathons.
