  • Categories 10K

    A start at the 10K is possible from the age of 14.

    To qualify for the Performance Slot, proof of an official result in the last three years is required.

    The other start slots are free to choose as long as places are available. There are no pacemakers in the CityRun 10KM.

  • Qualification times Performance Start slot

    Ambitious runners have the possibility to start in the exclusive performance block of the CityRun 10K by submitting an official performance record. Proof of performance is an official ranking at an event within the last 3 years in the given qualification time. This proof must be uploaded at registration.

    The association "SwissCityMarathon – Lucerne" voluntarily opted for the VAT. The association is registered with the number CHE-112.487.804 VAT. The entry fees include the VAT of 2.5%.


  • Starting documents / race number and finisher gift

    Pick up Friday / Saturday
    You can pick up your race number and finisher gift at the Marathon Expo in the Hotel Schweizerhof upon presentation of your registration confirmation or starterguide.

    Alternatively, you can have your race number sent to you by mail (shipping only in Switzerland and Liechtenstein). Foreign guests can also pick up their race number on Sunday morning in Horw (only on presentation of the starterguide). You can then pick up your finisher gift after crossing the finish line by handing in the voucher on your race number. We recommend to pick up the starting documents and the finisher gift already on Friday or Saturday at the Marathon Expo. 

    Important: The starterguide will be sent to you by e-mail in mid-October and can be conveniently presented on your smartphone or tablet. A printout is not necessary. Together, we can avoid over 20,000 printouts and make another ecologically valuable contribution.

  • Start and finish

    The start of the 10K is located in the centre of Horw on the Ringstrasse.

    The finish is in the Swiss Museum of Transport (Lidostrasse 5, 6006 Lucerne).

  • Finish closing time

    Finish closing time for 10K runners ist 3.00 pm.

    Runners who do not cross the finish line within the time limit will not be classified. The end of the official competition is determined by the follow-up vehicle, which is passing the kilometers on time, so that it arrives at the finish within the set time limit. Overtaken runners have to end the race and are no longer part of the official competition.

  • Time measurement

    The chip for the time measurement is integrated in your bib. The time chip don't have to be returned at the end of the race. The race number must be worn visibly and unfolded on the front. 

  • Victory ceremonies

    For 10K at 2.15 pm (Finish area Swiss Museeum of Transport)

    Only overall winners will be awarded on stage.
    All other prizes will be sent by post after the event.

    Category winners receive a free starting place for the next year, 2nd placed a 50% voucher and 3rd placed a 30% voucher.

    The award ceremonies will take place in the finish area, please note the speaker announcements.

  • Bag transport

    One piece of luggage per 10K runner can be dropped off at a separate drop-off station at the checkrooms in Horw. Please attach the luggage label, which is attached to your race number, to your luggage. The luggage will be taken to the checkrooms at the finish. The checkrooms for the men are located at the parking lot Brüelmoos, for the women at the Sportcenter Würzenbach. To get your luggage back, you have to show your start number.

  • Security Instructions

    Instructions given by the race course personnel must be followed. Private escort of runners by all type of vehicles, especially by bicycles or inline skates, is not allowed. Also to run with a dog, a pram, etc. is not permitted. A general ban on driving applies to the whole race course except for the official vehicles of the organisers. Any short cut from the race path and other illegal aids are forbidden.

    Participation in a wheelchair is not possible because of security reasons. The technical directors of the organising committee will make final decisions for disqualifications.

  • How do I get to the start in Horw?

    The easiest way is to take the train "S4" or "S5" from Lucerne main station to Horw. Alternatively, you can also catch the bus no. 20 from Lucerne main station. The starting area is signposted from Horw railway station and can be reached within a few minutes.

The start of the CityRun 10K is in the centre of Horw on Ringstrasse. After a starting loop, the run leads through the middle of the festival and cheering zone from Horw towards Lucerne. On the way there, the route leads through the modern soccer stadium of FC Lucerne – a few metres from the players' benches. Who knows, maybe you will discover yourself live on the big screen in the stadium. The next highlight is already waiting: the Culture & Congress-Center Lucerne (KKL). Finally, the course leads through Lucerne's picturesque old town to the finish arena in the Swiss Museum of Transport.

CityRun participants can buy a Finisher-Medal when they register + CHF 5.-.

The Finisher-Medal will be handed over directly after the finish line.
