CharityRun 10K

The CharityRun 10K is the category at the SwissCityMarathon - Lucerne in which you "do good while running"! In addition to the charitable character, the CharityRun 10K also offers you a sporting highlight.

CharityRunners can register in one of the 10K starting blocks from 13:00 to 13:37 - with or without ranking. CHF 30 of the entry fee will go directly to the foundation "The Human Safety Net Switzerland" and this year's project "Equal chances for all children".

With numerous highlights along and on the course, the CharityRun 10K offers an unforgettable sporting experience with a social impact!

  • Categories CharityRun 10K

    A start at the CharityRun 10K is possible from the age of 14.
    You will be ranked together with the CityRun 10K. In the category "without ranking" your time is measured, but the the ranking list is alphabetical.

  • Starting time CharityRun 10K

    When registering, you choose an individual start slot according to availability. The starting slots are not divided according to performance. The distribution of runners on the course is even, so that in each start slot are the same conditions. It does not matter for your own performance in which start slot you start. There are no pacemakers in the CharityRun 10K.

    To qualify in the special performance slot (start 12.58 p.m.), proof of an official result in the last three years is required.

    The association "SwissCityMarathon – Lucerne" voluntarily opted for the VAT. The association is registered with the number CHE-112.487.804 VAT. The entry fees include the VAT of 2.5%.

  • Race number and finisher gift

    Pick up Friday / Saturday
    You can pick up your race number and finisher gift at the Marathon Expo in the Hotel Schweizerhof (Schweizerhofquai 3, 6002 Luzern) upon presentation of the "Starterguide" sent to you.

    Alternatively, you can have your race number sent to you by mail (postage only in Switzerland and Liechtenstein). Postal delivery must be selected when registering. The finisher gift can be collected after the finish by handing in the voucher on the start number. Foreign guests can also collect their race number on Sunday morning in Horw (only upon presentation of the "starterguide" and personal ID).

    Recommendation
    We recommend that you collect your race number (and finisher gift) on Friday or Saturday at the Marathon Expo.

    Important
    Your "starterguide" will be sent to you by e-mail in mid-October. It can be conveniently presented on your smartphone or tablet. A printout is not necessary. Together we can avoid more than 20,000 printouts and make another ecologically valuable contribution.

  • Start and finish

    The start of the CityRun 10K is located in the centre of Horw (Ringstrasse 1, 6048 Horw).

    The finish is in the Swiss Museum of Transport (Lidostrasse 5, 6006 Lucerne).

  • Finish closing time

    Finish closing time for the CharityRun 10K ist 3.00 pm.

    Runners who do not cross the finish line within the time limit will not be classified. The end of the official competition is determined by the follow-up vehicle, which is passing the kilometers on time, so that it arrives at the finish within the set time limit. Overtaken runners have to end the race and are no longer part of the official competition.

  • Time measurement

    The chip for the time measurement is integrated in your bib. The time chip don't have to be returned at the end of the race. The net time from crossing the start to the finish line is measured. The race number must be worn visibly and unfolded on the front.

    The ranking of the CharityRun 10K is done together with the CityRun 10K.

  • Changing rooms and bag transport

    One piece of luggage per 10K runner can be handed in at the drop-off station in front of the changing rooms in Horw (Horwerhalle, Allmendstrasse 16A, 6048 Horw). Please attach the luggage tag, which is attached to your race number, to your luggage yourself. The luggage will be taken to the drop-off point near the finish. These are located at the School Würzenbach (Kreuzbuchstrasse 60, 6006 Lucerne) for men and at the Sportcenter Würzenbach (Kreuzbuchstrasse 42, 6006 Lucerne) for women. To get your luggage back, you have to show your race number.

    Luggage drop-off (start): 11.45 a.m. - 1.15 p.m.

  • Security Instructions

    Instructions given by the race course personnel must be followed. Private escort of runners by all type of vehicles (especially by bicycles, inline skates, e-scooters, etc.) is not allowed. Also to run with a dog, a pram, etc. is not permitted. A general ban on driving applies to the whole race course except for the official vehicles of the organisers. Any short cut from the race path and other illegal aids are forbidden. The technical directors of the organising committee will make final decisions for disqualifications.

    Participation with a wheelchair is possible in the new category "Roll&Run". More information under never walk alone

  • How do I get to the start in Horw?

    The best and fastest way is to take the train "S4" or "S5" from Lucerne train station to Horw (journey time: 6min / departure: every 15min). Alternatively, you can also take bus no. 20 from Lucerne station.
    From Horw train station, the chaning rooms and the 10K start are signposted. They can be reached within a few minutes on foot.

Course

The start of the CharityRun 10K is in the centre of Horw on Ringstrasse. After a starting loop, the run leads through the middle of the festival and cheering zone from Horw towards Lucerne. On the way there, the route leads through the modern soccer stadium of FC Lucerne – a few metres from the players' benches. Who knows, maybe you will discover yourself live on the big screen in the stadium. The next highlight is already waiting: the Culture & Congress-Center Lucerne (KKL). Finally, the course leads through Lucerne's picturesque old town to the finish arena in the Swiss Museum of Transport.
