CityRun for UNICEF

The CityRun for UNICEF (8.5K) at the SwissCityMarathon in Lucerne is the optimal distance for fun-runners and beginners. The CityRun course offers an unforgettable experience! At the same time you can do something good with your run!

Runners of the CityRun for UNICEF can register in a separate starting block. CHF 30.00 of your paid registration fee will go directly to UNICEF Switzerland.

Equipped with numerous highlights, the CityRun course offers an unforgettable experience! This year the start is exceptionally located in Haldenstrasse (Lucerne) and not in Horw. The finish is in the Swiss Museum of Transport as always.

    This year it is a bit different. How exactly the SwissCityMarathon - Lucerne 2021 will take place you can find here.

  • Categories CityRun for UNICEF

    A start at the CityRun for UNICEF is possible from the age of 14. Following you can find an overview of the categories.
    In the category without ranking your time is measured, but the list in the ranking list is alphabetical.

    The additional costs for registrations with payment by invoice is CHF 2.00 per registration. 

    CHF 30 of your paid entry fee will go directly to UNICEF Switzerland.

  • Time measurement

    The chip for the time measurement is integrated in your bib. The time chip don't have to be returned at the end of the race. The race number must be worn visibly and unfolded on the front. 

  • Security Instructions

    Instructions given by the race course personnel must be followed. Private escort of runners by all type of vehicles, especially by bicycles or inline skates, is not allowed. Also to run with a dog, a pram, etc. is not permitted. A general ban on driving applies to the whole race course except for the official vehicles of the organisers. Any short cut from the race path and other illegal aids are forbidden.

    Participation in a wheelchair is not possible because of security reasons. The technical directors of the organising committee will make final decisions for disqualifications.

From the start in Haldenstrasse (Lucerne / not Horw!), the route leads along the city's traditional luxury hotels and the Hofkirche church into the center of Lucerne. With a view of the Chapel Bridge and the Water Tower, the course crosses the Seebrücke - Lucerne's main axis. On the opposite side of the lake, the course runs past the famous Culture and Convention Center Lucerne (KKL). After the turnaround at the Alpenquai Cantonal School, the course leads through the picturesque old town of Lucerne towards the finish arena at the Swiss Museum of Transport.
